Wordless Wednesday-My Great Great Grandmother

This is my great great grandmother, Mary Eliza Preston Morgan, in front of her house about 1880.

Ok, I know that you are busy checking out other Wordless Wednesdays but please bookmark me and drop back some time. This is my genealogy blog. I will be discussing my ancestors and from time to time I will be giving some instructions on how to do your own search. But now, go back to Wordless Wednesday and have a happy day.

What a lovely photo... Is that house still standing? How cool would it be to get a photo of you in the same pose in front of it?

Cool shot! Ours is up as well at burntofferings and more at bernies fotoblog.

Have a great WW!!

That's a good question, Mom. IS it still standing? I would be all over visiting there someday. Of course it would have been easier a couple years ago.

I'm not even sure where this house was so I doubt that it is standing.

It's so interesting to read how others have been able to trace their family history. I'm having such trouble finding information about my family. I'll come back and see how you're progessing.

Happy WW.

Wow! Really cool. I wish my family had this kind of documented history.

The house is very interesting - it looks like a Cape Cod that was dressed in some Victorian gingerbread trim and a dormered window. It might already have been old when this photo was taken. Thanks for sharing!

I have a photo from EPCOT today - come visit when you have a moment.

Oh, we probably *do* share ancestors, but it may be quite some way back in history. If you have your own history, we can add the "Preston" part of it to the Preston websites, which will be linked (soon) to my blog at http://www.mpreston.blogspot.com.

An interest at the moment is to figure out why many American branches of the family split the surname like "Preston-Jones" and "Preston-Walker", This seems to have been split further by dropping the hyphen - as with your ancestor.

Now, I know that in the USA the surname "Preston" has become, somehow, a forename - but almost always a male forename. Yours is odd as it is used or a female. Do you know the history? I presume her parents or grandparents were named "Preston".
